During February’s Black History Month activities the Loyal Ladies of Milton F. Fitch, Sr. Assembly worked in collaboration with Lighthouse Partnerships of Hope during “Celebrating our Heritage“ events in seven of the eight events held in various North Carolina counties. We assisted with the distribution of over $8000 in Black History books purchased by Lighthouse Partnerships of Hope. The books were by Black authors. We also served refreshments to all in attendance. The eight host sites included: Edenton, Wilson, Chocowinity, Raleigh, Hillsborough, Oxford, Rocky Mount and Morganton. Our Assembly attended all distributions with the exception of Morganton. The first event was held in Edenton at Warren Grove Missionary Baptist Church, site of the first Rosenwald School in North Carolina. Milton F. Fitch, Sr. Assembly #43 also presented a check in the amount of $500 for the Central Children’s Home. We were honored to have Deputy Thompson, Board Chairperson and Executive Director Angela Williams present to receive our gift. Brothers from Milton F. Fitch, Sr. Consistory #43 assisted us with book distributions in Wilson and in Oxford. The Raleigh distribution took place at the Historic St. Paul AME Church, site of the first two Freedmen’s Conventions following the Civil War. As we consider community projects over the coming months we continue to examine:
We ask God to “order our steps.”
